What is Kevin's comeback story?

In 2003, when he was 16, Kevin had a traumatic brain injury. He rebuilt one step at a time.

His first marathon took 3 hours and 47 minutes. Years of steady, patient training later, he ran 2:20.

That experience is the reason he coaches the way he does. Progress comes from small steps you can repeat, and from not getting hurt along the way.

How does Kevin coach?

Kevin coaches for people with real lives. Most working runners do not have time for two hard sessions a day, so he does not build plans that need them.

Built in stages

Training is periodized. Each block has a purpose and leads into the next.

Risk against reward

Every hard session is weighed against the chance of injury. If the risk is not worth it, it comes out.

Steady improvement

The first jump is often the biggest. After that, Kevin keeps you improving in smaller steps you can hold on to.

A lifetime in the sport

The goal is to keep you running for decades, not to peak once and break down.

What are Kevin's coaching credentials?

Kevin is certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), Canada's national standard for coaches.

What do Kevin's runners say?

"Kevin has been my coach for several marathon cycles, and we have collected several PBs and BQs over our time together. Above all of these accomplishments, I am most thankful for how Kevin has helped me to navigate the balance of marathon training and my busy personal life as a mother and health care provider. Kevin has helped me to become a more confident runner, to believe in myself and trust in the work. He's the best!"Raye M.
"Kevin is the only person I trust when it comes to running. Right down to the shoes I wear. I completed an olympic triathlon 12 months after suffering a lower back injury where I couldn't walk for 2 months. Kevin's coaching taught me how to reduce lower back strain and for the first time in my life I actually love running."Thomas B., Vancouver
